The petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondent - Kotal Mahindra Bank to defreeze/re-activate the petitioner’s bank account bearing no.5949287000, with its branch at Sector 17-A, Gurgaon, which has been frozen without any notice and intimation.
Learned counsel for the Bank has filed a reply dated 07.09.2026, which is taken on record. Referring to the same, he submits that the petitioner’s bank account was frozen due to a disputed transaction amounting ₹1900. However, it can be made operational by marking a lien on the said amount. He further submits that the petitioner’s GST registration details do not match with his details on the GST portal and, therefore, re-KYC AMAN DUA 2026.09.15 12:43 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this judicial document

compliance is also required. The petitioner will shortly be issued a notice requiring him to furnish the requisite documents for the purpose.
Learned counsel for the petitioner has no objection to this conditional running of the account, after verification of his KYC details.
The petition is, accordingly, disposed of with a direction to respondent - Bank to issue an appropriate notice to the petitioner within five working days asking him to furnish the requisite documents for KYC verification, which would be completed within two weeks from the date of submission of the documents by him. Thereafter, the Bank shall de-freeze the aforementioned bank account within three days by marking a lien on the disputed amount of ₹1,900, and share the documents which led to freezing of the account with the petitioner within two weeks, to enable it to take recourse to appropriate remedies against it, in accordance with law.
